Jesús Carlos De Vilallonga 1927 - Jesús Carlos de Vilallonga was born in Catalonia, Spain. After
studying engineering and architecture at the University of Barcelona, he decided to become a painter.
He studied fine art at the Barcelona School of Fine Arts and at the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris.In 1955, he relocated to Montreal and for a thirty-year period worked between Catalonia and Quebec. In Montreal, he associated such artists as Robert Roussil, Armand Vaillancourt, Jean-Paul Mousseau, and Molinari. In 1958, his work was shown at the Dominion Gallery, to which he remained attached until its closing. In Catalonia, he was acquainted Marcel Duchamp, François Rey (writer) and Ramon et Antonio Pitchot. In 1967, he met Salvador Dali and Gala, and collaborated with Dali in the creation of sculptures. In 1971, the University of Montreal commissioned Villalonga to paint a mural at the entrance of the Faculty of Law. Since then, he has painted murals and frescoes all around Canada and in Spain. Works created by Vilallonga are undeniably personal, converging nature with artifice. |
